Cooter Stew is a funny name that two brothers came up with at an open mic night in march of 2000. Bryan and Jon were two guitarists who went by the psuedonyms Kupr Klaygitch and Earl Windam. Cooter Stew grabbed the stage and played original rockin grooves. The tired open mic audience was refreshingly pleased after being bombarded with Dave Matthews and Melissa Etheridge covers. After playing twenty nights out and having 7 or 8 tunes under their belt, Eric the bassist decided to join them. Together they wrote a few ditties about alien abductions and galactic warfare, not to mention "dog will climb the fence". Along came a drummer named Robert who is actually a spy for the government and spent weeks at a time in Greece or San Diego. But as Cooter Stew popularity grew his secret identity was in grave jeopardy. When Robert didn't come back, an octopus named Cory C. stepped in. He was very good at slicing the cheddar and proceeded to make the rest of the band look bad with his unearthly talent. With a small fanbase in Rome, NY, consisting of family and friends, Cooter Stew began taping their shows. They had about 16 songs to their name when they went into the studio in March of 2001, almost one year after Kupr and Earl began playing open mic. For three days, Cooter Stew and producer Greg ate cheddar, pounded ginseng, and watched the horses. They also managed to record 10 songs. Oh yeah, Andreas was there to add flavor as well. The main incentive for forming Cooter Stew was to get "mad bitches". But to date, no member has gotten significant play, except for the lead singer. This is because he has a beard.
